ETIAS is a EU requirement for visa exempt nationals travelling to any of the below EU countries. Planned to be introduced in late 2026, ETIAS will be a requirement for UK nationals travelling to these countries.
Austria | Belgium | Bulgaria |
Croatia | Cyprus | Czechia |
Denmark | Estonia | Finland |
France | Germany | Greece |
Hungary | Iceland | Italy |
Latvia | Liechtenstein | Lithuania |
Luxembourg | Malta | Netherlands |
Norway | Poland | Portugal |
Romania | Slovakia | Slovenia |
Spain | Sweden | Switzerland |
ETIAS authorisation is linked to the traveller's passport and is valid for up to three years. With a valid ETIAS travel authorisation, you can enter the European countries as often as you want for short term stays – normally from 30 to 90 days. ETIAS is not a visa, but a travel authorisation.
The application process is online, simple, and designed to enhance border security. It typically takes just a few minutes and costs around €7 for travellers aged 18 to 70.
UK travellers are advised to apply well in advance of their trip and ensure their passport is valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area.
